Dear Friend

At this time of the year we have the opportunity to reflect upon the spirit of voluntary service and philanthropy and upon the generosity of volunteers and donors who gift their time and resources for the good of others and of our society as a whole .

Lifeline volunteers and supporters are people whose gifts are often less public, more out of sight and not always publicly recognised and appreciated but who are nevertheless vital to our society.

So to all the volunteers and supporters who gift to Kidsline...the 24/7 line...Face to Face Counselling... Chineseline...Mensline...Refugee Lifeline...the Boards of Lifeline and of the Foundation...those that help with administration... with the maintenance of our premises...with the design of brochures... and photography.. those that help with the Kidsline poster competition... or who help at events and gatherings..the teaching team... the supervisory and reference groups...the KRT ...to you all...I express on behalf of the countless people you assist, the indebtedness and gratitude of our society and the wish that your gifts are never taken for granted.

Thank you and warm wishes for a safe and happy festive season

Best wishes

Bryan Wilshire
Chief Executive

The Spirit of Voluntary Service

by Bryan Wilshire

Lifeline Auckland was founded on a strong belief of the strength and community value of volunteerism. This belief remains just as valid and true today.

Sure we have changed over the last almost 43 years and we will change in the future.

However, the basic premise of being able to offer an expression of humanity to others through volunteering is as true today as it has ever has been....

Case Study: The Secretive Mr Claus

by Denis Bunbury

There he was.  Taking up most of the two-seater opposite me.  His red clothes were prominent under the black greatcoat he had now allowed to fall open.

Building Sandcastles

Anon

Hot sun. Salty air. Rhythmic waves.

A little boy is on his knees scooping and packing the sand with plastic shovels into a bright blue bucket. Then he upends the bucket on the surface and lifts it. And, to the delight of the little architect, a castle tower is created....

The Best Sunblock?

by Gimmundo

Remember how you are always urged eat your broccoli? Even if it doesn't appeal to your taste buds, it's common knowledge that the green veggie is loaded with vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants that help protect against various kinds of cancer and other diseases.

Kick the Clutter Habit

by Kathryn Hawkins

You just know you left your car keys somewhere on the kitchen counter. Or maybe in your coat pocket. Or on the living room table..

By the time you finally locate the ever-elusive keys (hidden beneath a pile of mail on the dining room table), you're already half an hour late for an important meeting.

Sound familiar? If so, you're not alone - household clutter is one of the biggest time-killers. According to Newsweek, most people blow 55 minutes a day looking for possessions they've misplaced...

And finally.......a quote
