Suicide Prevention and Postvention Co-ordinator

An opportunity has arisen for a part-time Suicide Prevention and Postvention Coordinator (24-25 hours) based in the Wairarapa. The 3 DHB's which cover Hutt Valley, Capital Coast and the Wairarapa contract Lifeline to provide coordination services in Wellington regions.

The main purpose of the role is to:

Assist in plan implementation and to build on the existing work that the Regional Public Health (RPH) Suicide Prevention and Postvention Coordinators have developed across Wairarapa DHB region.

Key Focus:

  • To coordinate, monitor and lead the implementation of the Wellington Regions Suicide Prevention & Postvention Plan 2015/17.
  • Build on existing networks & Improve service Pathways ie, local, sub regional and national by engaging with individuals, groups and agencies. Your role here is to influence those people that may have an opportunity to effect positive change in prevention of suicide.
  • Collaborate and work across the sectors by participating in relevant community forums including those related to suicide, suicide prevention, suicide postvention, primary mental health and mental health and addiction
  • Engage and maintain strong relationships and linkages with primary health sector (e.g. PHOs and Primary Care Practices and; continue to engage with the secondary mental addiction sector which includes the District Health Board, Non Government Organisations and Primary Care Organisations including Maori and Pacific providers.
  • Lead or contribute to strategic policy development.
  • Develop and/or maintenance of regional and national networks
  • Assist the Service Integration and Development Unit.

Key Attributes:

  • Clinical background preferred, but not essential
  • Project Management
  • Relationship Management

Volunteer Receptionist / Admin Support

We're looking for a friendly, self-motivated volunteer to help us with the delivery of efficient and effective administrative services. Duties will include:

  • Greet visitors and managing client appointments, announce arrivals as and when required.
  • Answer incoming calls, taking and processing messages as required.
  • Issuing receipts for visitors making purchases.
  • Manage a broad range of incoming calls of distress in a calm manner by transferring these callers to the appropriate person.
  • Monitoring text messages on Message Media and sending out appointment reminders via SMS.
  • General office duties such as monitoring stocktakes and notifying the Office Assistant when low on stock. 
  • Ensure the kitchen facility is clean and supplies are readily available.
  • Assist the Face to Face Manager with any administrative tasks as and when required.
  • Data Entry of clients details from their triage forms into Access database & Excel docs.
  • Undertake additional tasks, responsibilities and ad hoc projects from time to time.
