Lifeline's telephone counselling volunteers come from all walks of life and all backgrounds but share one thing in common ...the desire to make a difference in the community by supporting individuals in distress who call Lifeline's 24/7 telephone counselling service.
We have 2 intakes per year for new counsellors (February and August). Details of the next training course can be found here
together with information on the process of becoming a Lifeline Telephone Counsellor.
Within the pages of this website you will also find some information about telephone counselling and Lifeline's history and expectations of, and commitment to, its volunteers.
Once accepted, trainee counsellors undertake a comprehensive training course over a 12 week period.
The course includes evening and weekend training sessions and ongoing self reflection and feedback from fellow trainees, tutors and facilitators. For an outline of course topics click here
Once training is completed, successful volunteers undertake 3 x three hour telephone counselling shifts per month together with a monthly supervision meeting for ongoing support.....
As we are a 24/7 service, we can accommodate evening, daytime and weekend volunteer shifts to fit around your schedule.
