There are lots of ways to volunteer with LifeLine Auckland and help make a difference.....

Volunteer as a telephone counsellor

If you live in the Auckland region and want to make a difference in your community why not consider becoming a volunteer telephone counsellor with Lifeline Auckland?

You will need to be prepared to work hard at learning new counselling skills and be interested in your own personal growth. You will also need to be prepared to make a firm commitment to LifeLine Auckland.

No specific educational qualifications are required, however an attitude of acceptance, compassion and sensitivity are essential.

Lifeline Auckland provides comprehensive volunteer training and ongoing support and supervision.

Applicants may choose to work towards a nationally recognised NZQA telephone counselling qualification or an internally assessed Community Stream qualification.

Volunteer as a face to face counsellor

If you are a qualified and experienced counsellor or therapist (or working towards qualification and registration), please consider volunteering some of your time to help those who turn to LifeLine Auckland in need of face to face counselling.

Volunteering with LifeLine Auckland is a rewarding and enriching experience.

Counsellors are well supervised and supported and have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients.

There are opportunities for volunteer counsellors to participate in ongoing training and development.

Volunteer as a fundraiser, support worker, administrator or for project work

LifeLine Auckland is always looking for volunteers who have some spare time to help with a myriad of "non-counselling" tasks.

These could include:
  • helping at events or fundraisers
  • participating in managing competitions
  • helping with administration tasks
  • graphic design
  • distribution of information materials
  • raising the profile of LifeLine Auckland

Although we cannot pay you - you will be richly rewarded by a sense of community participation and the satisfaction that you are helping LifeLine Auckland provide its essential counselling and support services to the community.
