Warmline
A new peer support helpline, Warmline, went live on 27th April. The freephone number is for people already using Auckland DHB Mental Health Services.
“Warmline is a unique service in Auckland” says Team Leader Ester Redon. “We are a peer support service so it’s about walking alongside people who are Auckland DHB service users.”
Warmline is a confidential non-crisis, non clinical phone service for service users who may be lonely, anxious, fearful or unable to sleep. The service can provide support and assist callers to problem-solve for themselves. Warmline is recovery orientated and empowers problem solving at a pre-crisis point. Auckland DHB already runs a free Crisis Line for service users who need crisis or clinical support. |

Warmline’s peer support system means that all call handlers have a personal experience of mental illness and recovery.
“When you can talk to someone who has been through the same journey as you can relate to them easily and build a rapport and establish a greater relationship,” Ester says. |
