What's Happening at Lifeline? by Annie Bradshaw
Mental Health Line
The storks have been visiting Lifeline. Michele Yeoman, Manager of the Mental Health Line is leaving this week on maternity leave. Her baby is due in a couple of months and we’re all very happy and supportive of her career change. Meanwhile Dylan Norton, Manager of The Lowdown and his wife are expecting their first child. Both babies are expected only weeks apart. We will be monitoring who sits in their seats next! Congratulations to the parents. We have been advertising for Michele’s replacement and hope to make an announcement soon.
Work continues on the Mental Health Line with :
FVIL
The Family Violence Information Line (FVIL) is going through some exciting changes with our partners, Preventing Violence in the Home (PVH) merging their calls into FVIL. This means FVIL call handlers will process PVH help line calls as well as FVIL calls. Both lines are similar in that they’re resourcing and supporting lines so it’s great to have the synergy that will hopefully result from the merge.
The Lowdown
Welcome to our new team members, Debbie Willis, Philip Chao, Renata Matthews and Sunday Tsoi who have all started in the last month. It’s great to have you aboard and we look forward to working with you.
The other important change with The Lowdown is the change in clinical support. Previously the Lifeline Support Team managed this process while the Mental Health Line team settled into their routine. Now they are up and running the Clinical Advisors from the Mental Health Line has taken on this task.
The Lowdown user numbers have increased in the past month and another round of advertising begins in July which should see numbers increase even more. While it could be viewed as bad news, it is also very good news.
NDI
The NDI Team suffered a setback the other week with one of its members, Bev Mathers taking ill. As a result she has taken leave but will hopefully be back in the future. Our best wishes are with you Bev.
