After calling Lifeline 3 years ago, Arikinui Mana (or the Kiwi Forrest Gump as he’s now known) wanted to give back. He decided to cycle the length of Aotearoa to raise funds for Lifeline.
Starting from Cape Reinga and after 36 days on the road, Ariki arrived at Bluff. By that stage his $200 bike was destroyed and his body had had enough too.
Along the way he spoke to as many people as he could about suicide prevention, a cause he believes so passionately in and says the highlight wasn’t the scenery along the way but the people.
He says “I had the best time of my life” and now he’s looking forward to more challenges to take him out of his comfort zone – a boxing challenge is next on the list.
Ariki’s Everyday Hero page has raised enough funds to be able to provide support to 70 people who call Lifeline.
